Twenty-eight years since his first album? John Egan says:

Better Late than Never.

Bugaboo Records proudly announces the release of John Egan’s second album: Better Late than Never. Coming a mere twenty-eight years after his debut Just Like a Human Being, this album epitomizes the adage “never give up.”

His band includes Matt Thorsen on guitar and vocals; Pete Wingate on bass, mandolin, and guitar; and Dan Styklunas on drums. Matt and Pete have played on both albums. In addition, Better Late than Never features some special guest musicians:

  • The Legendary Rich Gilbert (The Zulus, Human Sexual Response, Frank Black and the Catholics, etc.): guitar on "A for Aimee," pedal steel on "Dear Melinda,” and both on "Brand New Pair of Jeans;"

  • Paul Boblett (Zeppo, December Sons) - bass guitar on "Since She Left Me Behind" and "Dominique"- and;

  • Emily Edelstein (Quartet Davis) - viola on "Say Goodbye."

Better Late Than Never has 11 original songs, including the recent singles. As of July 14, 2023, it will be available for download on most streaming sites, and on CD at BandCamp.com. The first album is also available.

Jack Downey, MotifRI.com, on the single “Take Away”:

"Kicking off with gloriously crunchy guitars, the newest single by John Egan immediately hooks the listener. With a voice like an American Keith Richards, his singing radiates confidence and wit.”

Quotes from the artist:

“I started in a DIY mindset, and I still consider myself in a DIY context. We are an independent band. This album was an independent project. Bugaboo Records is not some major label with staff and a big budget, it’s just me. I am the staff and I have zero budget.”

“Is there an age limit for rock’n’roll? It’s easy to think you can’t trust anyone over thirty - until you’re over thirty. I’ll stop writing and playing music when I don’t want to do it anymore. That day has not arrived.”
